Gondola above snowy ski slopes in Gulmarg

Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Srinagar in 4 Days: A Realistic Plan

Four days is short for Kashmir, but it's enough for the three names everyone knows, Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam, if you're disciplined about time. This Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Srinagar plan is the one we'd give a friend.

Key takeaways
  • Four days covers Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam if you sleep in Pahalgam once.
  • Skip Sonamarg on a four-day trip; it costs a full day.
  • Book an evening flight home to keep the last morning.
  • Start each day by 8 am.

The plan

Lidder River winding through a meadow at sunset
  • Day 1, Srinagar: arrive by noon. Afternoon at the Mughal gardens, Shikara ride at sunset. Overnight on a houseboat or in a Srinagar hotel.
  • Day 2, Gulmarg: leave at 8 am, Gondola Phase 1 (and Phase 2 if open), meadow walk, back to Srinagar by evening.
  • Day 3, Pahalgam: drive via Pampore and Awantipora (2.5–3 hours). Afternoon at Betaab Valley or Baisaran. Overnight in Pahalgam.
  • Day 4, back to Srinagar: morning by the Lidder, then drive to Srinagar airport for an afternoon or evening flight.

What to skip

Sonamarg needs a full day on its own; leave it for the next trip, or add a fifth day. Aru and Chandanwari can wait too: choose Betaab Valley for the classic view.

Why sleep in Pahalgam?

A Pahalgam round trip from Srinagar is 5–6 hours in the car. Sleeping there turns that into two shorter drives and gives you the valley in the quiet evening.

Make it easy

Our 3 nights 4 days Kashmir package and the cheap Kashmir package follow this plan with a private cab and hotels booked. Gondola queues are the biggest time sink, so buy tickets ahead on the J&K Cable Car Corporation site.
